“_____, I’d like you to meet your fiancé,” your father’s booming voice spoke with exhilaration as his colossal hand swept towards the well groomed man bowing slightly to you, his perfect brown hair slicked back to allow his glowing face to stand out. Your eyes snapped towards the man of mention, seeing how he carried a casual smile spread across his plump lips. He seemed like the perfect man, almost…too perfect for you.

“It’s an honor being able to take your daughter’s hand in marriage, my Lord,” the man spoke with an excited voice comparable to a boy who just received his first chest hair – Plus this suitor seemed of the correct age for the analogy. Your father gave a hearty laugh, allowing his hand to fall against the arm of the chair he sat in, a bright smile on his lips. You couldn’t help but smile at the sight of your father’s prodigious grin.

“And it is an honor to have such a fine young man like you marrying my daughter. It’s even better knowing you are the son of an old comrade of mine,” your father nodded his head in thought, reminiscing over the fond memories of his fellow friend of royalty.

“He has told me many wonderful, adventurous stories of you, my Lord,” the boy chuckle slightly, acting extremely confident and at home. His brilliant brown eyes caught sight of your (color) orbs, locking with them. Your body froze at his intense gaze, seeing the glimmer in his eyes. He seemed to also carry a sort of knowledge within those eyes, which worried you slightly. Sure you had heard of this man before he arrived, but he seemed to possess knowledge you didn’t.

“Aw, yes. Those were the good ol’ days, I tell you,” he sighed in thought, his eyes softening for a moment as he looked towards his beautiful wife, your mother. She smiled back towards her loving spouse, clutching her fragile hand to your father’s. Then, your father turned his gaze towards you. “You and William are free to visit around the manor and visit. After all, you two should get to know each other better,” your father smiled to you, giving you a reassuring look. You grinned back at his warm, loving expression; you could never ask for a better father. Standing from your spot, William approached you, gently taking your hand. As your fingers touched, you instantly felt a chill shoot through your arm, surprising you a little. Slowly, the man bent at the waist, bringing his equally frigid lips to your small, delicate hand, his eyes locking with yours.

“It seems as though the princess has found her suitor.” Calloused hands skimmed over parchment paper against the black ink words.

“Hm?” Ruby red eyes gazed intensely down into the distorted words.

“Ever heard of a man named William?” the scratchy, aged voice spoke from behind a desk. The young, stout man on the opposite side gave a scoff.

“The man has no morals. Nothing he owns was attained with his own diligence,” the man responded, obviously not interested in the man of topic.

A hum vibrated through the room as the elderly chief thought, his hands cupped around one another as they pressed against his lips. “And the princess?”

A soft chuckled filled the room. “A truly beautiful piece.”

“Is that so?” the man paused in more thought. “I’ll give you a mission then. Bring the princess here, and we’ll see if we can get some of the royalty before William does,” he offered. Kiku grinned at the idea.

“Deal.”

“And this is the balcony that oversees the garden from my bedroom,” you smiled brightly, hands against the wooden bars of your balcony. Under the moonlight, the fountain seemed full of life as the moonlight radiated from the flowing liquid. You loved looking out from the balcony of your room into the flourishing, radiant garden overflowing with colorful flowers of a variety of species; it calmed your mind and allowed you to relax your entire being.

“Say, _____? Do you like adventures?” William spoke from beside you, his voice having a pitch that resembled excitement laced within. Your (color) eyes looked up into his chocolate brown orbs, a small smile on your lips.

“Who doesn’t? Why?” you responded with an equally fascinated tone. He gave a single breath of a chuckle, running his long fingers through your soft (color) hair. His eyes seemed to glint with something unpalatable, similar to the first gleam of emotion when you were first introduced and your gazes had locked; however, you were still unsure of exactly the emotion was.

“Since we’re going to be married, I thought maybe you’d like to have a little ‘adventure’ with me tonight.” The ends of his lips were curling upward into a twisted grin, and this created qualms from deep within your psyche. Was he meaning something unlawful, or was he meaning something prohibited before your marriage? Unsure, you shook your head lightly.

“I’d rather not, whatever you’re planning on,” you answered truthfully, your brows furrowing together as you looked into his eyes. Instead of seeing disappointment like you expected, you saw annoyance. Seeing this, your eyes widened and you quickly took a step away from him. However, his large hand quickly gripped your wrist, causing you to flinch.  Fear instantly shooting through your vessels, you attempted to pry your wrist from his vice-like grip; however, he didn’t seem to appreciate this very much.

“But I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, _____. Most women enjoy it more than the men,” he scoffed with a slight smirk, his grip tightening as he began to drag you back into the room. Your (color) orbs widened in alarm, realizing just what he was planning. With your adrenal glands mass producing, you felt your “fight or flight” sense kick in, and your mind seemed to decide the latter of the choices. Out of reaction, you kicked the man before you in the shin. With a groan, he realized your wrist in favor of gripping his now stinging bone, uttering a few curses as well. You paused for a moment, watching as he hissed in pain, your body frozen.

“You really shouldn’t have done that, princess,” he grinned, his chocolate eyes gazing into yours coldly. With a quick gasp, your feet sprang to life as you ran towards the door of your bedroom that joined it to the hallway. Behind you, you heard a furious growl that gradually grew lower due to the distance you put between the man and yourself. However, you had only just begun to move before footsteps resounded from behind you, the high pitched clacking against the concrete floors quickly catching up to your own. It wasn’t long before a strong hand grabbed onto your upper arm, yanking you to a stop.

“Release me!” you commanded, turning around to face your captor, attempting to wrench your arm free from his harsh grip, nails digging into the sensitive skin. You flinched at the sudden pain, giving a small cry as he bent your arm around, causing you to turn to the side to keep your arm from snapping with pressure. “S-stop!” you faintly cried as he increased his pressure of twisting your arm.

“Aw, listen to the little princess,” he spoke with a toxic grin, his eyes gleaming darkly. “It would be a shame if something were to happen to you, my dear,” he chuckled darkly, his other hand snapping upward, his long fingers wrapping around your neck. You gasped, your free hand clawing at his stone-like fingers. Your throat throbbed as you gasped for air, digging your nails into his fingers in attempt to get the precious air.

You looked over to the man, seeing his smirk against the darkness of the night, his white teeth glowing. Your eyes widened at the sight before you; it was as if a demon had possessed the body of this seemingly peaceful prince. You had qualms of this man before, you knew that something about this man was peculiar, but you still didn’t take action until now.

Before you could respond once again, you were thrown against the wall, the traitor pressing his body tightly against the wall; there was no distance between your body and his, and you could feel something beginning to form in between his legs. Your face paled at the realization of the dangers around you; you had to get away from this man before he did something else.

Just as you were about to pound your fist into him, most likely without success, something saved you the trouble of escaping the clutches of the man. His eyes widened as he released a choked sound, his body instantly slouching before ungracefully falling to the solid floor at your feet. That was when you noticed the knife protruding from between his shoulder blades. Quickly, you covered your trembling lips with your shaking hand to suppress a threatening scream. Salty tears gently gathered in the corners of your eyes as you witnessed the maroon life fluid pooling underneath the man’s inanimate body, the color darker than normal as it absorbed the darkness around it.

Suddenly a figured appeared to your right, not even an arm’s length away. Reacting, your body jolted away from the shadows; however, a hand quickly caused your movements to seize. Straining to the darkness, you heard your heart pounding against your chest. Then, it paused before finally speaking.

“I’m here to help you,” he spoke with a charming, unwavering voice that instantly captivated you due to the slight accent laced within their words; it was definitely a male. Sounds of metal clanking and heavy boots against solid marble flooring caused your head to turn down the hall; soldiers were here. The man flinched, quickly pulling you towards the wooden balcony of your room. Now, you could see him in the moonlight.

His hair was the deepest, most beautiful ebony you had ever seen; a raven would be envious of his color. His skin had a slightly tanned tone to it, as if naturally shaded, and no imperfections were to be found. His eyes, the most entrancing area of this man, were the color of true rubies and set off a glow brighter than any flame you had ever seen; they shone brighter than the moon. You also noted a few ink markings around the man’s neck where his tightly buttoned, ebony shirt did not cover.

“Come with me, and I will keep you safe,” the man spoke once again, his hypnotizing eyes locked with your (color) orbs, seeming to freeze you in place. Turning your head, you heard the sounds of metal getting louder from down the hall as they grew closer. You then turned back towards this strange man, searching his eyes to see promise and urgency.

You could stay here, with your family and home, but what would happen when they found William’s body? Would they take it out on your parents, or you? Or would they force you into another marriage? Then there was your other option: agree to travel with this mysterious savior. What would become of you and your family? And what was he protecting you from?

Suddenly a few soldiers appeared in the doorway of your room, shouting at you to “halt!”. You looked into the eyes of the strange man. Your mind raced, instantly kicking into a higher gear when you heard the voices behind you.

“Okay,” you spoke softly. No sooner than the words left your mouth, you were swept off of your feet. Instinctively, your arms wrapped around the man’s strong shoulders when he lept onto the railing of the balcony, looking down at the two story drop below him, the soldiers instantly breaking into sprints. The man grinned down at you, but it wasn’t the same kind of smirk that William gave you. No, this one was … ensuring.

“And before I forget, my name is Kiku Honda,” he spoke down to you before his legs stiffened, preparing to jump from the balcony. “Now, hold on, Princess. This will be fun.”
